Help installing itunes 9?

i just bought a new ipod today and i can only add songs with itunes 9, so i downloaded the itunes setup and i launch it, it starts installing but when the display says installing quicktime, an error pops up reading " the installation of quicktime did not complete successfully. itunes requires quicktime." it cant seem to get past the quicktime installation. hel please? i have windows vista.
